By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account Data
When you create an account, we collect:
- Name
- Email address
- Authentication credentials (managed via Firebase)
2.2 Payment Data
Payment information is processed entirely by Stripe. NurseCloze does not store, access, or process your credit card numbers, expiration dates, or CVV codes. Stripe's handling of your payment data is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
2.3 User Content
We collect and store the content you upload and generate through the Service:
- Uploaded documents (PDFs, lecture slides, text files)
- AI-generated flashcards derived from your uploads
2.4 Usage Data
We automatically collect certain information when you use the Service:
- IP address and approximate location
- Browser type and version
- Device information (operating system, device type)
- Pages visited, features used, and interaction events
- Referring URLs and exit pages
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
- Process your uploaded documents and generate flashcards
- Manage your account and authenticate your identity
- Process payments and manage subscriptions (via Stripe)
- Communicate with you about your account, customer support inquiries, and service updates
- Analyze usage patterns to improve the Service and user experience
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or security issues
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your uploaded documents or generated flashcards to train AI models.
4. Third-Party Service Providers (Sub-Processors)
We share data with the following third-party service providers who process data on our behalf:

AI Provider Note: OpenRouter and the underlying AI models we use process your text solely to generate flashcard outputs. These providers do not use your data to train their public models. Processing is ephemeral — your content is not retained by AI providers after generation.

5. Data Retention and Deletion
5.1 Active Accounts
We retain your data for as long as your account is active and your subscription is current.
5.2 Manual Deletion
You may delete individual uploaded files and generated flashcards at any time through the application. You may also request full account deletion, which will permanently remove all associated data.
5.3 Inactive Account Purge
If your subscription is cancelled and your account remains inactive for 6 months, we will permanently delete all User Content, including uploaded documents and generated flashcards. Account metadata (email, name) may be retained for a limited period for legal and billing purposes.
5.4 Legal Retention
We may retain certain data beyond the periods described above where required by law, for fraud prevention, or to resolve disputes.
6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:
6.1 Essential Cookies
Required for the Service to function properly. These include:
- Authentication cookies (Firebase session tokens)
- Security cookies (Cloudflare threat detection)
6.2 Analytics Cookies
Used by PostHog to understand how users interact with the Service. These collect anonymized usage data to help us improve the product.
You may control cookie preferences through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may impair the functionality of the Service.
7. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:
- Encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS via Cloudflare)
- Encrypted database storage
- Secure authentication via Firebase
- Access controls and regular security reviews
No system is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of data transmitted to or stored by the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data.

NurseCloze is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.

We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date and, where appropriate, providing additional notice (such as an email notification). Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
